Wise Geary database Backup

How does the actual backup get Wise Geary work?

We are using Azure Portal as the Secure Backup portal which is the online storage secured by special Passphrases and it serving to hold the data online.

We need to manage the expiration time of the actual data.

We have 3 types of services which are being used for backups.




MARS (Microsoft Azure Recovery Service)

It chooses folders or files to backup online and they will be uploaded to azure portal using a special passphrase.

Connect to Management Server(management.wise.apoyar)

Create an account on Azure Portal.

(WWW.PORTAL.AZURE.COM)

Choose RSV (Recovery Service Vault)

First, we look the properties (first we need to download the Recovery service agent)

You can download the backup credentials

You can register the online agent.

We can see the Downloaded Files in 

Local Disk © > Program Files > MABS (Microsoft Azure Backup Service) > DPM (Data Protection Management) > MARS( Microsoft Azure Recovery Service)

If we install it, Database gets Created, it creates the backup, we can create the schedules etc.

If that Database fails, you lose all the settings and the tree of backup server

We do not able to download the data from the online portal if we look at the backup items.

Azure backup server (we can see the last recovery date)

However, there is no way to download from here.

The only thing we can do is Install MABS server and try to restore the data.

What Happens to old data & mails that needed to be restored.

We can find the backup servers in Backup Infrastructure.

The total number of servers backed up, with different Active Directories.


When we register in azure portal, we get the special pass phrases will be generated (It is important to keep the passphrases saved for future purpose.)

If we lose the pass phrases even Microsoft will not be able to give it back the data, the data would be lost.




During installation, registration process. A special pass phrases is generated (can be saved in folders)

This PC > Documents > Azure Vault info

If the server does not fail, you will not require this pass phrases within the application.

However, if you reinstall the application at another server, you need the pass phrases.


MABS (Microsoft Azure Backup Server)

-	Go to console Azure Portal

-	Protection

-	Protection groups created for maintenance

We only can schedule backup time using protection group properties.

Once the schedule time triggers, the server starts backing up the data in local storage.

Because WG do not have fast internet. We cannot afford to upload to online storage during the workday. Because this will slow down the bandwidth.

We have a hard drive on management server, this will have a backup cache folder.

This PC > Azure> Azure Backup Cache

Later it will be moved to online portal.

MABS is responsible for backing up the data locally & MARS the online agent responsible for move or copy the data to online.

We can See the Properties of the Protection group.

Right click on the Server name.

Modify group

List of servers we are backing up with agent

We have the option to back up on disk and online protection

To run the data integrity

How to Recover the Backed-up data by this server

If you want to access the data online from a failed management server.

Recovery

Add External DPM

Vault Credential (Downloaded RSV)

DPM Server (Choose the server)

Encryption Passphrase (Saved in the Folder)

Ok



How to restore the Recovery data
------------------------------------------------

Select the Folder on Recovery Server and Choose the date. (EG : Mailbox)

Right Click and select Recover the data.

Recovery Selection Window Opens

Because its online we only can download the folder copy to Network Folder.

We have a software for Restore

Steller Repair for exchange

Local Scan

Select the file Downloaded.

Ok

The mailbox data base is opened

Right click and save the mailbox of particular as PST

This can be merged with the Current Mailbox, Also can view the data in the folders.
