Mercury is the single active directory domain controller.

The '''Active Directory Domain Controller''' serves:

* User management
* Group management
* Computer management
* Group policy management


The DNS serves:

Internal computer names on 10.0.1.0/24 range (for communicating between the servers themselves). This applies to both members and non-members, even non-windows machines, for simplicity.

Public DNS services for all machines using internal LAN (on the above range).

The reason for this is that in case of a public DNS failure we still can use a forwarder (like from MR) as a temporary measure.
